INTERACTION HELPS BREAKING SITTING BEHAVIOR IN THE WORKPLACE

ARE YOU OK?

Probably. Because the Flemings sit down for more than 8 hours a day on average.

White-collar workers in particular regularly sit still for long periods of time: about 5.5 hours during working hours.

But think about this for a moment…

Those who sit for more than 10 hours a day are almost 35% more likely to die (prematurely) than those who sit for only 1 hour a day. Many people also feel less productive and less energized during a “sitting marathon.”

BAKED

Sitting down is ingrained in our culture. At school, children are strong when they sit still, and in your company you will probably also be surprised if a colleague stands up during a meeting. There are already companies taking action, but this is not yet widespread.

The Flemish Institute for Healthy Living wants to change this mentality by introducing a new term in the workplace: interaction .

EXCHANGE WORKS

Alternating, that means getting up every half hour. This is how your energy level goes up! A small effort, with proven effects: employees who limit sitting still for a long time and regularly interrupt it by standing up, walking around and moving not only experience a positive impact on their physical health. They have more energy, can concentrate better and are more productive.

Less absenteeism, a good working atmosphere and a positive image are the bonus for the company.
